If you're shopping for health care insurance, you probably fall into one of the following categories:

  • You're fully covered through an employer,
  • You're covered by an individual plan,
  • or, you're not covered at all.

If you're fully covered through an employer, you can talk to your benefits administrator or HR department about your coverage.

If you're covered by an Individual plan, based on your situation, you could have options.

Refer to any member information your current insurer sent you or call your health insurance agent.

If you are not yet covered, or choose to shop for a new plan, there are a few ways to get health care insurance.

Not sure where to start? You can...

  • Enroll in a plan through an insurer,
  • Visit the Health Insurance Marketplace,
  • Or contact a health insurance agent for assistance.

Some insurer's websites let you see the same prices and benefits as the plans that are offered on the Marketplace. They even have online tools that may help you compare plans and determine if you qualify for financial assistance. Depending on your income and family size, you may be able to save on the cost of health insurance with premium credits, which can be used to help pay for coverage, or Cost Sharing Assistance, to help with out-of-pocket costs. When you're ready to make a purchase, you'll have plenty of payment choices. And don't forget, before selecting a plan, you should check if your doctor is in network for the plan you want. Choosing the right insurance Coverage is one of the most important decisions you have to make. Blue Cross and Blue Shield is here to help you every step of the way.
